Welcome to the award winning Hunan Tea Garden. We are located at 50 Mount Bethel Road in Warren, New Jersey. Check out the menu for our delicious dishes and specialty drinks. We hope you stop by and dine with us soon.
The first Hunan was founded in 1978 in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey and we immediately gained recognition for our unique cuisine. At the time, our style was only available in New York as no other Asian restaurants were preparing these types of dishes. Having brought the food to New Jersey with much fanfare another Hunan soon followed in Garwood, and shortly after Hunan Tea Garden was started in Warren in 1984. Over the years, we have been awarded recognition in many newspapers and with critics, as well as news and review outlets such as the Courier News, Star Ledger, Travel and Leisure and Zagats Survey. We have also been featured in several Asian news sources throughout New York.
Our culinary style is from the Hunan province in China, hence our name. The cooking style is spicy, but not in the sense most people think. The spice is not apparent right away. It is a spice that builds after the food is eaten, building from within and bringing a warmth to the body. We have many different types of spices that we use in all of our dishes and the level of spiciness can be altered according to your tastes. Just ask and our chefs will prepare it according to your preference.
We have a liquor license on site and have many wines that will pair exceptionally well with your meal. We have been told that our Mai Tais can't be beat and our Lychee Martinis come in a close second. If you are feeling adventurous, ask the bartender to suprise you. We have Happy Hour Monday through Friday from 4pm to 7pm, so stop in for some authentic Chinese cuisine and have a drink while you're here.
